Colony life

Most little kids in the colonies got little to no education, most people would get a group of kids together at one another house and hire a teacher to teach them. Older kids were sent away to different cities. There were always many more men than women, therefore most women were to be married. Most parents in the colonies had about 7-10 children. After the death of a husband or wife, most people remarried as mast as possible, making households extremely full of children and step children.
Cities were jammed together as tight as possible in the colonies. As you might expect, disease came with being so jammed together, many people died very young in cities while farmers always lasted longer. During the week, many people worked very hard, but people took advantages of any leisure time they could find, people took Sundays to talk to neighbors and meet friends. Religion was one of the most important things in colonial life. Puritans took religion very seriously and there was attendance at church and peoples houses were checked to ensure that all people were at church. The great awakening was when people lost belief in religion and priests had to rally them greatly.
